Assistant Principal - GHS Technical Programs

Jennifer Fero:

Ms. Fero is in her third year as the assistant principal and head administrator for Grayson Tech. Ms. Fero was most recently at Meadowcreek High and was also an assistant principal at Maxwell High School of Technology in Lawrenceville. Additionally, Jennifer has leadership experience in Portland, Oregon. This is her fifteenth year in education. She has taught in South Korea, Ghana, West Africa and began her public school career teaching social studies at Reynolds high school in Troutdale, Oregon. Ms. Fero earned a Master of Science degree from Portland State University in Educational Policy Foundations and Administration in 2003. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences with minors in Secondary Education and Gender Studies from Western Oregon University in 1997. Ms. Fero has completed two Spanish language immersions in Puebla, Mexico and Alajuela, Costa Rica. In 2000, she represented her school district on a 10 day cultural immersion to Oaxaca, Mexico. One of her deepest learning experiences was a summer Principal Center workshop at Harvard University in 2005. Currently, Ms. Fero is a participant in the Leadership Gwinnett Program, sponsored by the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce.

Carisa Griffin:

Mrs. Carisa Griffin holds her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Art Education and is a member of the National Art Educators Association.  She has a vast background in Photography, teaching both film/darkroom and digital.  From teaching Photography in the classroom to being hired as a portrait photographer she brings a wide scope of experience to the teaching environment.  Mrs. Griffin curriculum motivates and challenges students to learn all aspects of photography and to make creative choices.

Mario Lowe:

Mr. Lowe comes to Grayson Tech from industry, where he was an IT consultant /support for CLL Athletics. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology with a concentration in Network Administration from Florida State University. He also has CompTia Network+ along with a Cisco CCNA certification in addition to 5 years of substitute teaching in Gwinnett county.  He and his wife live in Loganville with their two children.

Perry
Will Perry:

Mr. Perry is the Digital Media and Design instructor, and comes to Grayson Tech from eleven years in the industry producing websites, music videos, and commercials for television. In his second year here, Will earned a Master of Arts degree from the Academy of Arts University, and a Bachelor of Arts from Temple University. Will lives in Duluth.

Mahathey

Catherine Mahathey:

Mrs. Mahathey is the Law Enforcement instructor, and is in her second year at Grayson Tech. Coming from industry, Katie has worked for the Georgia State Board of Pardons and Paroles, and with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office. Katie received a Master of Science degree from Mercer University, and Bachelor of Science degree from Jacksonville State University. She lives in Loganville with her husband, son, and dogs.

Corey Crockett:

Mr. Crockett is the Music Recording Instructor, and is in his eighth year here. Coming from industry, Corey has worked in several recording studios in Nashville and in Atlanta as an audio engineer. Corey earned a Masters of Science in Education Media Design and Technology degree from Full Sail University, and has a Bachelor of Science in Recording Industry Technology degree from Middle Tennessee State University. Corey still maintains an active recording business, and lives in Lawrenceville with his cat, Abbey Road.

Dr. Gina Carpenter:

Dr. Carpenter teaches Sport Medicine at Grayson Tech, and is in her second year. Prior to coming to Grayson, Gina practiced Chiropractic for 17 years. She received her doctorate in Chiropractic from Life College and University, and her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Georgia. Gina lives in Walton County with her husband, three children, and dogs and horses.

Alicia McCracken:

Mrs. McCracken is in her first year of teaching Sports Medicine at Grayson Tech. She comes from Maxwell High School of technology where she taught healthcare science. She worked in the industry for 10 years as a respiratory therapist at hospitals in Atlanta and Athens, Georgia. She earned her Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Georgia, and has an Associates of Science degree from Gwinnett Technical College. Alicia lives in Bogart with her husband and two children.

Nicole O'Mara: Mrs.

O'Mara is in her eighth year as the Veterinary Science instructor. Before coming to Grayson Tech, she worked in the in the animal biotechnology industry and at several animal hospitals. She earned a Masters of Agricultural Leadership and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Georgia. She lives in Colbert with her husband, two children, and many animals.

Ms. Kat Marcotte is a Teach For America alumna with a decade of experience teaching in North Carolina public schools. Kat has industry experience in both corporate and nonprofit sectors designing digital and print media. She received her Bachelor's degree in journalism with a minor in public relations and an emphasis in design from Northern Arizona University. Throughout her tenure as a teacher, she's taught Media Literacy, Media Production, and English Language Arts at the high school level. Kat is originally from Phoenix, Arizona and currently resides in Jackson County.

Mr. Steven Griffing, Instructor. The Engineering program is divided into two different paths of study, Foundations of Engineering and Engineering Graphics and Design. Michael Gary:

Mr. Gary provides CTI services, and is in his eighth year at Grayson Tech. Michael has also worked at Berkmar High School, and in Fulton and Walton County schools. Claire Carrell:

Ms. Clair Carrell is a CTI Coordinator at Grayson Tech. Prior to coming to Grayson, Clair worked for Georgia State Parks for over 5 years as an Assistant Park Manager for Fort Yargo State Park in Winder, GA and more recently at Fort McAllister Historic State Park, located below Savannah, GA. Clair began her teaching career at Monroe Area High School and taught there for four years. She earned her Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from University of West Georgia and her Teaching Certification from the University of Georgia. Clair now lives in the Monroe area with her two dogs and a cat.

Mrs. Stefanie Miller is a former student and graduate of the Veterinary Science Program at Grayson Tech. After she graduated from Grayson High School, she went to Berry College where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science. Stefanie has been working in the Veterinary field for 5 years and comes to Grayson Tech with experience in the large animal, small animal, and exotic animal field. She and her husband live in Loganville.

Jill Landtroop:

Mrs. Landtroop is the department chair, and also coordinates the Student Ambassador and recruiting programs. Jill started the Hospitality, Travel and Tourism program at Grayson Tech, and is in her eighth year here. She comes from Shiloh High where she taught business education. Jill received her Masters of Education degree from the University of Georgia, and a Bachelor of Science from Point University (formally Atlanta Christian College.) She lives in Loganville with her husband and two children.

MartinDan Martin:

Mr. Martin is the Technology Support Technician (TST) for Grayson Tech. Working in his nineth year here, he came to Grayson Tech from Berkmar High and is currently completing his 14th year with GCPS. Dan's industry experience includes music & video productions, technology sales & service, and being the CEO for three companies in the computer industry. He is technology industry certified and also maintains his own computer consulting business. Dan lives in Lawrenceville with his wife and several pets.
